Mavi shopping
When we started our collaboration with Mavi, we knew this brand had a strong story to tell in its physical store.
When a customer walked into the store, they immediately felt this was the right place. The colors, the layout, the lighting, the behavior of the staff – everything told them a simple, honest narrative. Now it was our turn to bring that same feeling into the digital world. Without a physical shop, without touching the products, without any physical presence. We started from scratch. Every element that was to be placed on the website was measured against one question: 'Does this element convey the same feeling as the blue store?' Line by line, a website took shape – not cluttered, not cold. It was simple, but not soulless. It was fast, but not rushed. The result is an online store where users, from the moment they enter, feel a sense of security and calm – without even knowing why. The same feeling that existed in the physical Mavi store. A real blue store, now in digital form.
Design & User Experience Approach
When we designed the Mavi website, we followed three simple principles:
No-nonsense simplicity
We removed everything that wasn't necessary. The user should only see the product, the price, and the purchase button. Nothing else.
The right kind of good feeling
We didn't want to just say 'we're great' using gold colors or fancy fonts. The good feeling is hidden in the product layout, the smooth scrolling, the subtle animations, and how the site responds to the user.
Fast, hassle-free purchasing
From the moment the user enters the site to order confirmation, a maximum of 3 clicks is needed. The user shouldn't have to think or search for missing options.
Our goal was simple: at every stage of the purchase, the user should feel they are shopping quickly, easily, and intelligently.
Flexible & Layered Discount System
strengths One of the core components of the MaviShopping project is the design of a decentralized, multi-dimensional discount engine. Unlike traditional systems, this is not merely a 'percentage off a product,' but rather an intelligent layer within the purchasing process. This system allows for: Defining a percentage or fixed-amount discount on a specific product without affecting other items. Applying time-based discounts to all products within a specific category. Store-wide, universal discounts on all products with no exceptions. Additionally, the automatic activation of free shipping once the shopping cart reaches a predefined amount was another key system implemented in this project.
Project Challenges
The main challenge was balancing the visual simplicity of the frontend against the complexity of discount logic behind the scenes. On one hand, the user must see the purchasing process as simple and transparent. On the other hand, the discount engine must simultaneously process volume-based rules, loyalty conditions, coupons, and overlapping scenarios – all without error and at high speed.
Technical Implementation
Frontend
Frontend: React with TypeScript – for secure, maintainable code and a fast user experience. Styling: Tailwind CSS – full flexibility to implement a completely custom, minimal design without CSS bloat.
Backend
Backend: Django – managing complex logic, stable APIs, and readiness for future development. Database: SQL Server – focusing on stability, transaction isolation, and referential integrity of critical data.
Final Project Outcome
MaviShopping is no longer just an 'online store,' but rather a platform for flexible, transparent, and negative-surprise-free shopping that: Clearly shows the user all applicable discounts before cart checkout. Provides a robust infrastructure for managing hundreds of simultaneous discount rules. Saves the merchant from error-prone, manual discount management.
This project exemplifies the belief that a 'good discount' is the result of precise rule design, attention to user experience, and a well-thought-out system – not the clutter of discount banners and untargeted advertisements.
